MADIDI NATIONAL PARK

Located in the northwest of Bolivia, this area consists of a full array of tropical ecosystems. Madidi’s vast wilderness area encompasses unparalleled biological diversity ranging from mountain cloud forest to dry tropical forest, humid lowland rainforest to savannah, wild rivers to lakes. It is the habitat of more than 1.000 species of birds, 44% of all new world species of mammals, and an estimated 38% of neotropical amphibians. The tropical Andes where Madidi is located, is also a globally critical hotspot of endemic plants.

ITINERARY

Day 1
We fly (1 hour) to the small town of Rurrrenabaque where we catch immediately our motor boat to travel for 5 hours to our campsite near Tuichi River.

Day 2
5 hour trek in deep forest for photo safari and camp near Ondo River.

Day 3
5 hour trek to return to Tuichi and travel in motor canoe to Caquiawara hill to find endemic parrots. Return to Rurrenabaque. Hotel.

Day 4
Transfer in 4WD and motor canoe to visit the wetlands of Las Pampas to view a great variety of species like: anacondas, alligators, turtles and capiwaras. Accommodation in bungalows.

Day 5
We visit an area of Anacondas. In the afternoon we go fishing for piranhas.

Day 6
Morning to visit an area of river pink dolphins. Return to Rurrenabaque.

Day
7
Regular flight to La Paz.

EXPEDITION LOGISTICS

In trekking we consider as well those 6 difficulties explained above but we transferred the situation to the activity of the trek. The only remarkable difference exists in the altitude: The true climbing activity starts at over 5000 m high but the trekking activity runs from 1500 m high up to 5150 m high.
